The NZLLA is interested in promoting the writing of all members.

2009 : Mary Rose Russell the Law Libraian of the Davis Law Library at the University of Auckland, took part in the NZ Style Guide preparation and creation. She also created and compiled the  Index to the Legal Citations of Aotearoa New Zealand (LCANZ) which provides guidance on the citation of all major New Zealand legal journals and law reporting series

Congratulations to Mary Rose on these very useful resources,  they assist in  filling conspicuous gaps in New Zealand legal literature.


 

2008

2007

  • Pat Northey started the Lawhawk newsletter and libraries in 2000. It filled a gap as the legal internet in New Zealand was developing rapidly. The site was taken down in 2007.  Many thanks to The Knowledge Basket who hosted the site and paid for the site traffic the whole time. This was a donation to the NZLLA.
  •  Judith MacDonald, Employment Court information, August 2007. This article outlines the Court website and the information available.

2006

  • Mary-Rose Russell was awarded her LLM degree with first class honours in 2006. Her thesis is entitled Mainstreaming legal research skills into a New Zealand law school curriculum, [2006] Thesis (LLM), University of Auckland, 2006. All members are encouraged to examine this excellent work. Mary-Rose Russell is the  Library Manager Law at the University of Auckland. 
  • Jane Treadwell was the Managing Director of Knowwhere Consulting Ltd.
  • Margaret Greville regularly writes for overseas collections on the topic of finding New Zealand law. Her legal research book, Legal Research and Writing in New Zealand, authored with Davidson and Scragg, has been published in its 3rd edition.
  • Alan Edwards is offering his Q&A tips once more. The first and second were received in August 2006. No further tips were received before Alan retired.
  •  New Report of the regulations Review Committee I.16E  Investigation into deemed regulations that are not presented to the House of Representatives, Report of the Regulations Review Committee. 48th Parliament  (Dr Richard Worth, Chairperson) August 2006.

  • Colin Fong, then the Research Librarian Allen Allen & Hemsley, Sydney, and Alan J Edwards, Law Librarian, University of Otago created the 2nd edition of Colin's legal abbreviations publication. Permission has been given to include it in this site.
  • Article of interest, Gibbons, "The Explosion of New Zealand legal Scholarship in the 1960s",  (2004) 12 Waikato Law Review.
